/

One-single-artwork-show #12: Ivan Liovik Ebel

Wed-Sat 15:00-18:00 h and by appointment

The phrase that maybe best describes Ivan Liovik Ebel´s work in a nutshell is “the spaces in between”. For him personally, the term “intermediate spaces” refers to a sort of investigation of the relativity of perception, of forms of non-distinguishability as well as the relationship between time and space.

Ebel works with many different media like painting, print, installation, sculpture or performance. In each case, he is interested in a certain moment of indeterminacy and uncertainty, in which one no longer knows exactly what one is actually looking at. He is always concerned with a very delicate situation, which can often only be observed upon taking a closer look.

Ivan Liovik Ebel (born in 1983 in Neuchatel / CH) lives and works in Berlin. He received his Masters in Contemporary Arts Practice from the Bern University of the Arts. In 2017 the artist was on the short list of the Aeschlimann Corti-Stipend and in 2015 he was nominated for the Berlin Art Prize.
His work has been exhibited in numerous exhibitions: at Kunsthaus Langenthal (CH), Kunsthalle Bern (CH), Kunstmuseum Bern (CH), CACN Centre d’Art Contemporain de Nîmes (F), Neue Galerie, London (GB) and Bern (CH), Marks Blond Project, Bern (CH), ZQM Projektraum, Berlin (DE), Lage Egal Projektraum, Berlin (DE), Galerie Widmer Theodoridis, Zürich (CH), Annka Kultys Gallery, London (GB), Galerie Valérie Delaunay, Paris (F), Galerie 3000, Bern (CH), Espace Art & Essai, Rennes (F), Galerie du Griffon, Neuchatel (CH), Galerie Gilla Loercher I Contemporary Art, Berlin (DE), among many others and as well at art fairs such as Art Karlsruhe 2017 (booth Galerie Gilla Loercher).

In 2016 Galerie Gilla Lörcher introduced a new exhibition format and a series of 6 exhibitions that did only last one week. The so-called one-single-artwork-show exhibit format will be continued from time to time and will contrast the usual 6 weeks exhibits.

The exhibition format follows the parameters:
1 artist, 1 artwork, 1 week.

Back to the roots. Bildbesprechung. Let´s talk about art.
