Press Release

/
Galerie Gilla Loercher is very pleased to announce the opening of a second gallery location on a temporary basis and to present a solo exhibition by the Berlin artist Henry Anno (born 1959) at the temporary gallery space at Linienstraße 141 until April 20, 2015.

Henry Anno's work is all about materiality, feel and texture. The artist has a weakness for material that is not available in art supplies and prefers to use material that reflects a strong relationship to the place of its creation / production / use and its history.
For the works exhibited here, for example, the artist used fiberglass film from a former US radar base from the 1960s. The applied, glossy, thick black bitumen paint layer gives an idea of the carrier material in some places. Depending on the incidence of light, the texture of the picture surface changes and with it the whole picture body: again and again newly perceived image object.
